Brian P. Lennon
Brian P. Lennon Educated at Harvard University and the University of Notre Dame Law School, Mr. Lennon’s legal career has spanned more than three decades. From his time as a Captain - Judge Advocate with the U.S. Marine Corps, to Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Division in Washington, DC, to Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Michigan, to now thirteen years in private practice, he specializes in Healthcare and High Stakes Defense & Investigations, and when necessary continues to try cases in federal and state courts in Michigan and Florida. Mr. Lennon’s clients include health care providers and professionals in matters such as health care fraud, corporate investigations, and health care compliance. His wealth of experience includes defending clients who have received target letters, civil investigative demands, and grand jury subpoenas, and his understanding of the mechanics of the legal processes at play in health care law offer him a great appreciation of the importance of successfully navigating these challenges for his clients, whose livelihoods, reputations, and liberties are in jeopardy.
As Deputy Criminal Chief at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Michigan, Mr. Lennon supervised the Healthcare Fraud Unit, among others. Since entering private practice in 2012, a significant portion of his practice has been representing healthcare and medical research entities, physician groups, individual physicians and other licensed professionals, business professionals, and politicians.
Mr. Lennon successfully represented Michigan’s 48th Governor, the Honorable Rick Snyder, throughout the Office of Special Counsel Investigation (2016-19) and the Michigan Attorney General Prosecution (2021-23). In addition to dismissal of the criminal case in December 2023, the team of attorneys he led obtained a sanctions order from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit against the entire Michigan Department of Attorney General for improperly disclosing in the Flint Water prosecution documents that were under seal in the City of Detroit Bankruptcy (“the Grand Bargain”).
Mr. Lennon has been named a Top Lawyer in White Collar Criminal Defense by Grand Rapids Magazine, a Best Lawyer in America in the field of White-Collar Criminal Defense, ranked in the top ten in Leading Lawyers Magazine - Michigan Edition, and has been recognized by the State Bar of Michigan as a member of the A Lawyer Helps Pro Bono Honor Roll. Mr. Lennon sits on the Board of Directors of the West Michigan Aviation Academy, the Michigan Colleges Alliance, and is a former Co-Coordinator of Volunteers for the Grand Rapids Ballet.
